Baptism of Children Age 7 & older
The process for children and teens prepares those who are unbaptized or baptized in another Christian denomination and desire to become fully initiated Catholics.
In addition to the formation process through the different stages, participants also enjoy prayer experiences as well as fellowship and community-building opportunities. The children and teens and their parents attend the sessions, days of prayer, and other events together. The formation focuses on both the individual and the family.

Frequently Asked QuestionsCan I just have my Child Baptized?
This process is for all 3 sacraments of Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, First Eucharist to be received together at the same time.
How long does it take?
It depends on the child and the family support. We want to introduce the Catholic faith to the child with the Faith Formation process on Sunday afternoons and then look at preparing for the sacraments. Your child is making a life-long decision, so we want to make sure they understand what that means for themselves and for the parents raising them.
I have a child under 6 and a child over 6, can they both do this process?
No. Infant Baptism (0-6) is a separate process, please go to (https://www.saintedward.org/infants) for more information.
Who can be a Godparent?
Not the mother or father of the Child.
A Godparent must:- Be a Catholic who has been baptized, received the Holy Eucharist and been confirmed
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Be one who is currently living a sacramental life (regularly attending Mass, making use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation)
- Not be in an irregular marriage, living a life of habitual sin (i.e. co-habitation)
- If married, must be married in the Catholic Church
What if the Godparent does not fit the requirements above?
They are unable to be the Godparent for the child, unless the above requirements are met.
