Pope Francis, in his Misericordiae Vultus, states, "the Church is called above all to be a credible witness to mercy, professing it and living it as the core of the revelation of Jesus Christ. From the heart of the Trinity, from the depths of the mystery of God, the great river of mercy wells up and overflows unceasingly. It is a spring that will never run dry, no matter how many people draw from it. Every time someone is in need, he or she can approach it, because the mercy of God never ends." Mercy is the very foundation of the Church's life ... Mercy is the force that awakens us to a new life and instills in us the courage to look to the future with hope. As a parish, an archdiocese and as a universal church, we form a community of disciples, the Body of Christ, of which we ourselves, individually and together are united members. DSF participation enables us to impact the lives of thousands and thousands of our archdiocesan brothers and sisters through the evangelizing, healing, nurturing and pastoral ministries of the Church. By supporting the ministries of the CHurch, we nurture and enrich our archdiocese, and we carry out the design of God: indeed, by being a good steward to the community, we strengthen the generous heart of the Church.
Please take a minute to read the Cardinal's letter in today's bulletin insert, and prayerfully discern your participation in this year's DSF campaign "instruments of God's Mercy."
