Our Infant Baptism formation process is home-based with two digital sessions where parents and Godparents gather to converse about the sacrament- the theology and the lived experience. These formation sessions give parents and Godparents an opportunity to dialogue about their roles in the lives of the child to be baptized.
Parents are highly encouraged to contact the parish for information and to register for formation at least 4 months prior to the desired date of baptism. This will give us all ample time to plan, prepare, and be ready for the celebration of the sacrament. Below are the steps to follow in order to celebrate the sacrament.
STEP ONE- REGISTRATION
There are three documents needed in order to get the process started:
1) Parent Registration form- this form is completed by the parent
2) Godparent Registration form- this form is completed by the Godparent(s)
3) Copy of child's birth certificate (only for families that plan to celebrate their child's baptism at St. Edward)
Non-parishioners seeking to celebrate the sacrament at St. Edward will also need to submit a letter from their pastor at their home parish granting permission for the sacrament to be celebrated here.
All Godparents who are not parishioners of St. Edward will need to provide a letter from their pastor at their home parish stating they are members of the parish.
STEP TWO- FORMATION
Parents and Godparent(s) must complete the formation process prior to scheduling and celebrating the chIld's baptism.
If any of the parents or Godparent(s) have completed formation within the last three years (2020-present), a letter of completion from the parish where formation was received must be submitted.
Otherwise, parents and Godparent(s) will be automatically registered for the February formation sessions.

7 pm to 8:30 pm via Zoom
Three weeks before the first formation sessions, those registered for the formation process will begin receiving the material to review and prayerfully study at home. Our Zoom gatherings are discussion-based. All participants are encouraged to bring their questions and insights as it makes the conversation that much more fruitful.
At the end of the formation process, all who attended and completed the process will be given a letter of completion for their records.
STEP THREE- SCHEDULING and CELEBRATING THE RITE
Once all forms have been received and formation has been completed (or letters provided), parents are connected to our Director of Liturgy to schedule the baptism.
To submit forms, for questions or more information, please contact Anthony Hernandez.
