The Office of Evangelization and Catechesis at St. Edward offers religious education and faith formation for people of all ages, from young children to older adults.
Religious Education for Children & Youth
Systematic religious education is offered for children and youth in grades PK-12. Our Christ-centered curriculum uses essential questions to help students make connections, grow in knowledge; and nurture their relationship with Jesus Christ. Our program includes four “family sessions” each year, where parents and children come together to enjoy a time of sharing and reflection while we learn more about our faith.
Registration
Registration for religious education begins in April each year for the following year. Contact
[email protected] for help with registration.
Weekly sessions
Students in grades PK-8 may choose from two weekly sessions: Sundays 5:30-7pm or Wednesdays 6-7:30pm. Students in grades 9-12 meet on Sundays from 5:30-7pm. (High school youth group meets immediately after classes, from 7-9pm)
Home Study
St. Edward offers a home-study program for families who are unable to attend weekly classes, or who prefer to teach their children at home. Parents follow the same curriculum used in the classroom to cover four units of study. Students gather four times a year at “check-in appointments” to share what they are learning with one another.
Programs for People of All Ages
In addition to religious education, children in grades K-5 may attend our annual Vacation Bible School. Children age 3- First Grade are also invited to participate in Children’s Liturgy of the Word at 9:30 Mass each Sunday. Youth ministry is available for students in grades 6-12. In addition to regular youth group meetings, students also participate in retreats, mission trips, and special events. Our adult faith formation programs include weekly bible studies, book studies, prayer groups, retreats, and special guest speakers.
