The names of credibly accused clergy have been released since Thursday, January 31st• It has been on our minds and heavy in our hearts as we learn about the clergy who were credibly accused. As clergy, our hearts break for the victims. We are frustrated as well as saddened because the men who were supposed to care for the little ones chose to do harm.
Like Peter on the water, we must keep our eyes fixed firmly on Christ. All of us need to be reminded that our faith as Catholics is not rooted in any pope, bishop, priest, or deacon, and it is not in buildings and institutions. Our faith is in Jesus Christ. He is our refuge in the storms of life. Stay close to Christ in prayers, in the sacraments, and in living the gospel.
In solidarity with Jesus Christ, the true high priest, and our local shepherd, Cardinal DiNardo, we know that the failures of men cannot diminish the light of the Gospel. We are here for you, St. Edward Catholic Community. Pray for us as well.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
