Lent Week 1

The Holy Season of Lent is a penitential season. Our daily activities should be marked by penance and sacrifices as we all journey through these 40 days of Lent leading to Easter.

I want to encourage all of us to renew our relationship with Christ and journey with Him for 40 days. It is a time of renewal which includes prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.

I would like to offer this as a reminder for all of you in practising fasting and abstinence this Season of Lent. Ashe Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory (required) days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics but definitely not the only days we can do it. All Fridays are obligatory days of abstinence for all Catholics who are age 14 and up.

Let us pray for a meaningful and fruitful journey to Easter. Let us pray especially for our brothers and sisters who are preparing for the Easter sacraments - those who are going through the RCIA process.
